Dr. Emma Boateng is a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC) with over 15 years of nursing experience and advanced expertise in adult psychiatric care. As Clinical Lead for Psychiatry Services at the Virginia Center for Psychological Services (VCPS), she combines clinical excellence with strong leadership to guide the psychiatric division and support providers across both in-person and telehealth settings.

Dr. Boateng earned her Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) and advanced certifications from Walden University, where she developed a focus on evidence-based, patient-centered approaches to mental health. She specializes in treating depression, anxiety, PTSD, bipolar disorder, OCD, ADHD, and other mood and stress-related conditions. She brings a holistic perspective to psychiatric care—addressing biological, psychological, and social factors to promote long-term wellness and resilience.

Known for her warmth, professionalism, and deep respect for each individual’s journey, Dr. Boateng builds strong therapeutic alliances that foster trust and lasting change. In her leadership role, she serves as a resource and mentor for the VCPS psychiatry team, ensuring alignment with the organization’s standards of excellence in medication management, collaboration, and integrated care.
